***BEER CLUB*** I want to start a beer club with a group of friends *ANY SUGGESTIONS?*?
I want to start a beer club with a group of friends to get more acquainted with different types and pair with food and what not. Any suggestions as to how to go about organizing it and how much everyone should bring would be helpful. Thank you.
I had a beer club with friends – because we live in Pennsylvania, we had buy buy beer by the case. But that worked out because veryone would bring a case of something different. Then, at the club, we would all exchange our beers so we’d all have a little of everything. This worked perfect with no more than 12 people so everyone got two or more of each beer.
That night, we would sample the various beers. The host would provide food but it would have been really cool if there was more of a pairing. Cheese is an excellent way to pair beer and its different flavors. You can get idea for food pairs for each style and individual beers at www.beeradvocate.com. We were on an email list and would try to indicate what beer we were bringing beforehand, but it was also nice to pickup a case on the way so you could get it cold. The host would also provide coolers full of ice to keep the drinking beer cold.
If you’d prefer, six packs work if there are fewer people. It was also fun to try and bring a large bottle of a specialty beer – typically 22 oz. bombers. We would all share small samplings of these and compare them.
